Hello Lovelies!

Sorry for the blurry photos – they were taken on-the-go as today has been rather manic.

This morning one of my favourite fashion publications came to my little flat to shoot a ”At Home With…” feature.

The shoot went smoothly and both the editor and photographer were fun and bubbly so we ended up having a good giggle. I can’t wait until I get to see it in print!

The lovely team behind Revlon Middle East offered to do my make up for the shoot (Thanks to Sonja and Basma). The best part is that I’ll be able to write a nice and juicy beauty post about it soon! (Most of the products used on me were new Revlon releases that haven’t reached the store shelves yet so in other words I have plenty of insider beauty scoop to share with you!)

I can already tell that the uber light and airy foundation mousse and a sheer orange lipstick (seen in the photos below) are both going to become a part of my make up routine.ย  (More about it in the next post.)

Quick Outfit Du Jour:

Sweatshirt YSL (should I remove the Y and just call it SL ๐Ÿ™‚ ??), shorts H&M and boots Louboutin. XXX

Rouge d’Armani

This post started off as an outfit post but became all about Le Lipstick!

The jeans are from ZARA and the reason why I’ve cut them off and left them frayed is:

1: because I think it looks cooler, natch..

2: because at my 159 cm jeans are ALWAYS too long for me and I’ve just given up on altering everything I buy. So do we write this off as nonchalant chic or just plain nonchalant? ๐Ÿ™‚

The blushy lacey top is from Reiss…

and the shoes are Ted Baker. The heel is high enough so it doesn’t get classified as ”kitten” (which I hate) but it’s low enough to be an ok daytime shoe, wearability wise.

Before I let the lipstick talk take over this entire postย  – today’s impromptu outfit shoot took place en route to Dubai Marina Yacht club and the sunset light was oh-so-pretty!

I am used to the strong red lip look as I have worn it for a solid few years (it took some getting used to but now it’s one of my favourite way of spicing up an ensamble) and after having worn almost everything that there is to do in classic red (we’re talking Ruby Woo and Russian Red by MAC and all the other iconic shades) I decided that I was ready for something new.

Enter Giorgio Armani Rouge d’Armani lipstick in #401 – a lush orange shade of red.

I have read somewhere that the shade was made famous by songstress Rihanna. I’ve also read that it’s a great ”beginners shade” of orange and was guaranteed to suit almost all complexionsย  – unsure if that’s entirely the case but compared to other orange tints I’ve tried (that looked like abstract art on my lips) this hue felt really flattering.

Have you attempted the orange lippy?

Je voudrais…

Cartier LOVE bracelet eat yourย  heart out – we are all craving the grungy chic Juste Un Clou in 18 K yellow gold.

Slouchy knits are always welcome into my closet and this week I really like the star motif jumper from Topshop. It would look tres cool with a pair of denim cut offs and nude Isabel Marant – esque boots.

Delicate and colorful underwear from Calvin Klein (one of my favourite underwear brands and surprisingly affordable here in the UAE compared to Europe) looks great when seen under a sheer lacey top. I find that the Mall of the Emirates outlet whilst price competitive carries limited selection so occasionally I splurge on some CK undies from netaporter.com.

Leather

Yesterday started with a breakfast with Paco Rabanne perfume creators held at the One And Only Royal Mirage hotel. The team behind the brand talked about their latest scents : the luxurious 1 Million andย  Lady Million.

With it’s notes of saffron, tobacco and rose the perfume was a tad too overwhelming for my taste but both the opulent and heavy scents will do great in the Middle East I am sure. Even the limited edition golden bottles seemed designed with Middle Eastern consumers in mind.

(Whilst at the One And Only I decided to get some work done in their beautiful lobby bar before I was off to my next part of the day – part 2 of working for Camilla Skovgaard). I didn’t manage to take any photos but I was tres eager on Instagram yesterday so look me up on there under Style Drifter.

Now to the outfit:

My tee is from Zadig & Voltaire, leather trousers from Ben Sherman and ballerinas from French Sole. (In Dubai available at Harvey Nichols).

The cuff is a piece from a market stall in India, purchased during the days when I was a full time world traveler.

Needless to say I came close to death by heatstroke whilst taking the photos. The sunset light was totally worth it though. ๐Ÿ™‚

Sequins and brocade.

Today’s outfit was a little brocade / sequin bonanza that for some reason felt a bit 50’s inspired and so I may have gotten too excited with the ‘vintage’ filters whilst retouching them.

How do we feel about enhanced outfit photos on fashion blogs btw?

I am torn in between thinking that it’s cute and artsy whilst getting drawn to blogs that post nothing but raw high quality images with loads of close ups and details.

To my defense Dubai was rather gloomy today and the original images were rather deprived of light and warmth so the tweaking perked them up.

I wore sequin shorts from ZARA (I had been looking for a pair for ages and when I saw these I bought them immediately despite that they were the wrong size. Nothing a tailor in Satwa couldn’t fix).

The shoes are Christian Louboutin and the jacket is H&M ca 1997 – in other words I have had it for ages.

The sunnies are Burberry and the little frangipani was a little last minute styling twist, courtesy of Dubai Municipality. ๐Ÿ™‚
