Latest purchases – knit from APC and Liberty London in the perfect camel hue as well as flow pants from Faithfull The Brand. XXX P.S I am trying to add shopping links but slow internet won’t let me so I’ll update the page tomorrow.
I read once that Anna Dello Russo said that if your clothes are comfortable they’re no longer fashion. Whilst I have nothing on the authority that is Anna I can’t level with her here. A lot of creativity goes into keeping relaxed outfits look stylized, perhaps even more than if you opt for a show stopping mini combined with bold structural (read painful) heels. Now by no means am I against dressing up; it’s just that per necessity, in my day to day life I have to 1. move freely; 2. work long hours; 3. respect the culture of the UAE and 4. protect myself from the desert heat whilst looking like someone who works in fashion.
On that note – I recently visited the Armani Exchange store at the Dubai Mall and found myself pleasantly surprised to how much of a revamp the brand has undergone. Screaming logos and shiny faux leathers were nowhere to be found; instead the brand focuses on quality tailoring, muted tones and pieces with a timeless relaxed fit.
On my list of must haves this season is the chambray wide trouser / top combo. When worn with just a white sneaker they feel like a ”grown up pajamas”. They don’t crease excessively either which was a pleasant surprise.
A beige fitted blazer (whilst sounding like a Kardashian staple) is ridiculously versatile and will be perfect for when the winter season sweeps over the region. In the photo above I wore it with black pencil trousers and a simple white tee but I am yet to wear it over a white maxi dress. Tres tres chic.
Last but not least – another wide leg fit, this time in grey suit material that looked nothing but pure class when worn with a loud metallic pointy toe heel. Basic but not basic – I am 100 percent behind that motto. / XXX
If you have been following me on Instagram lately you will surely have noticed the presence of the keffiyeh printed fabric in an array of colours and shapes.
Many brands have jumped on this trend but Cecilie Copenhagen (link HERE) are by far the most versatile ones in terms of design.
I am hoping that the boutique buyers in the UAE will be savvy enough to pick this brand up as every time I leave the house wearing it I get stopped by numerous women asking where my outfit it’s from. Until then the brand has international delivery on their web shop. X
