Couple of weeks ago I was invited to an event hosted by Malaak designs (link HERE) held in collaboration with Canon.
Malaak is a UAE based abaya brand that has also launched a line of rather fabulous turbans. (I never thought that I could pull one off – being roundfaced and jovial looking – but I was proven wrong with the sequin piece in the top left photo.) I guess fashion rule nr. 1 applies to turbans as well as all other apparel: the cut / fit is what makes or breaks a piece.
I first stumbled upon the brand when requested to style their first lookbook 2 years ago. The images turned out to be quite the breath of fresh air to the scene and are still a great part of my portfolio. Huda (the designer) has since then released numerous lines and I have thoroughly enjoyed watching her progress and growth.
Canon being the partner of the event put on an interactive event that revolved around fine tuning our photography skills. The participants (a handfull of selected media) were given a chance to learn basic photography using the new EOS100d. Little did we know that at the end of the event we got to keep the camera!
I have read up on the raving reviews of the camera and can’t wait to give it a try over the weekend. I am thinking of venturing out on a photo safari and rediscovering Dubai through it’s lens. Is there anything in particular that you would like to see?
To be continued….
