This season following 3 trends have caught my eye (and they have been just as prominent on the catwalks as they have been on the international street style scene which I find just as inspiring).
– layering of animal prints. As illustrated in the photo above washed out snake skin is the ideal way to start. If you are going to double up on prints make sure that they aren’t loud in colour and ideally team them with whites and metallics.
– the new silhouette for the season: long chunky knits paired with flowy midi skirts; ideally worn in a single colour ensemble. All white and all black are both great options, preferably worn with a strappy sandal where the open shoe balances up how covered and demure the outfit is up top.
– the every day sneaker (preferably with a retro look done well by brands like NIKE and New Balance). Note that a sneaker worthy of a gym floor won’t do. I wear my retro NIKE with cocktail dresses and cropped suit trousers, a leather pencil skirt as illustrated in the photo is also a match made in heaven.
Whilst updating your closet make sure to stock this autumn / winter wardrobe with a camel hued cashmere knit – it doesn’t get more Sartorialist worthy than that.
